This electric dryer will run in automatic or the timed dry. The timer moves, but it does not turn off in either setting. I replaced the timer but it still does the same thing.

Take a moment to check your model number and make sure it is posted correctly. I was looking for a small moisture sensing board mounted next to the timer on your model and your model number posted does not exist.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you - I had password problems. The printed model # is Model 110.96281100
then there are type written numbers at the opposite edge of the label - 62811. Is that the whole number? Rick Day

. Are you sure that the dryer is heating? If so, test the resistor that is attached to timer it should read 2000-3000 ohms.

The dryer definitely heats. I don't see a resistor attached to the timer. What does it look like?

Go to appliancepartspros.com plugin your dryer model # and it will take you to a diagram it is part 27 ( Part number: AP3094277
) they use to look like a small white (3/8 x 2)" ceramic rectangular block with a lead with female blade connector on each end. Have you tested the limit switches (Thermostats) to see if they are opening like they should. The temperature rating should be on it. Best way is electric skillet that you can set the temperature on. They should show continuity cold and open at rated temperature. (Place metal side down terminals up.) Don't get burned, happy hunting

Get a skillet hot to the temp you want and set the thermostat in it klixon side down. Be sure to flour it well on both sides. Get it good and brown and check it for continuity. Goes well with kapers and some plum jelly.
Wow setting them controls on a skillet is a great idea. When do we eat?:D

I found a resistor that looks like #27 in the diagram, but it is next to the start switch on the opposite side of the console. The resistance is over 1 Meg ohm (my meter just flashes above 1 M). Is this the same resistor?
I have replaced the thermostat several times. When it goes, the dryer takes a long time to dry - probably because they are open most of the time when they go?

Rick, If we are talking about the same resistor then it's bad and has to be replaced.
The power resistor  Also I would make sure the exhaust line is not blocked. Disconnect the vent hose on the back of the dryer and run couple of loads without that hose. - The part number for the power resistor is AP3094277 Gene.

The hose is clear - cleaned it recently and can see thru it.
The resistor I have does not look like this one. It looks like a donut with an attaching flange on one end. The donut is about 1.5" in diameter with a 3/4" hole.
Is it possible that they no longer make them this shape and have replaced them with the rectangular ones?
