My Amana side-by-side refrigerator stops cooling and making ice about every 7-10 days. However, when I unplug or disconnect the breaker, it restarts, starts cooling and making ice again for another 7-10 days.
Could this be caused by a defective timer or thermostat? Is there a part or several parts that need replacing? Thank you.

Are you seeing frost on the back wall of the freezer after 7-10 days?

No, there is no frost built up. It appears to completely defrost and then work OK for 7-10 days.

Has this fridge been moved recently? This one actually stumps me for the simple fact that I have the same fridge in my garage, and mine was doing the same thing, I came to the conclusion that I had a floating restriction in the refrigerant. So I recovered the refrigerant, put on a new filter dryer, and it has been running great for the past 10 months, so Maybe someone else could help here. I doubt a timer or thermostat are at fault.

When the fridg. stops cooling, check and see if the compressor stops, if not you may just have a partial clog in the capillary tube.
