My ice maker stopped working. It's a side by side. I have water at the door OK. Went to back to swapp wires on the smart valve so I could check it out ,but the connectors are different. Any way to further chech the supply systembefore I remove the ice maker. When I tried to blow in the line to the ice maker, It appeared blocked. Is there supposed to be any valve between the smart valve and the ice tray.
Thanks in advance

Line is now clear. The ice maker motor runs. Still trying to find a way to check the water valve.
Thanks, Bon

Thanks, Bon Hi Bon, If the ice maker water line was frozen, replace the smart water valve. - The water inlet valve Part number: AP4327602

That's what you posted earlier: Quote:...When I tried to blow in the line to the ice maker, It appeared blocked... Quote:...Line is now clear... Whirlpool does not provide any instructions nor diagrams for this part. Here is the Tech sheet. Here is the Wiring diagram for the refrigerator. Gene.

Gene. Sorry about that. What I discovered was that I had inadvertantly disconnected the Drinking water line and had tried to blow into that line instead if the actual ice maker supply line. THanks, Bob

Your icemaker inlet tube maybe froze up. To check the tube, shut off water to refrigerator. Disconnect the water line that goes into the icemaker, Insert a flexable item through the connection at the top. I used a zip tie. If the item won't go all the way through to the icemaker tube, Thaw out the tube inside the refrigerator with a hair dryer. 2nd Solution: Replace the "water Inlet Valve" at bottom right of the refrigerator.. Easy To Do

Tube is/was clear after all. Don't want to replace valve (About $100) unless I can verify that it is bad.
Thanks, Bob

OK, Try This:
Disconnect the water line from the back for the Fridge to the Icemaker. Put water line into a glass or jar. When the "Water Inlet Valve" calls for water, water should dispense into the container.
I've done that. . . . :)

Hi Bob, Pull the ice maker out but do not disconnect the power plug. Remove the ice maker head cover and check for 120VAC between "N" & "L" test points. Make sure the test probes are 1/2" in.
If there is 120VAC then using an insulated piece of wire (14 GA), short points "T" & "H" to run the motor. Leave the jumper in for a half of a revolution and remove it. The water valve should be energized in the last half of the revolution.
Post the results. Gene.
