About 2 months ago our freezer quit freezing very well and quit making much ice. All our our food thawed out and I cleaned the whole thing out making sure there was nothing up top and hardly anything down below. Then it started working just fine. Now it is doing it again. It has been about 4 days and everything is thawed out again and very very little ice is made. It keeps the ice semi frozen but not like usual. The side of the freezer gets hot and the center piece down the front gets hot. It is only 5 years old.

Hi gonzorog Remove the cover on the back of the fridge and clean the condenser coil (#730 on the unit break down diagram). When this part got blocked with lint it caused the compressor to overheat and not to perform properly. The condenser coil has to be cleaned at least once a year. Good luck. Gene.
