On several occasions I have noticed that my freezer is not running, I don't hear the fan or the compressor running. I know it is receiving power as the light is on and the door sucks shut when I open it. If I unplug the freezer and plug it back in the fan and the compressor starts again. What would cause this to occur?

I will check next to see how long the compressor stays off. In the event it stays off longer than 30 minutes, is there an easy way to test the electronic controller? There is not a separate test but by the sound of it the unit runs OK when it does run so the most likely cause is that the defrost board is sticking in a defrost mode.
Is this the only thing that would cause the compressor to stop? Could be other things but the board is the most likely as the compressor runs OK and you did not mention anything about a temperature problem in the freezer.
Odds are the unit is OK. |
