On several occasions I have noticed that my freezer is not running, I don't hear the fan or the compressor running. I know it is receiving power as the light is on and the door sucks shut when I open it. If I unplug the freezer and plug it back in the fan and the compressor starts again. What would cause this to occur?

Here are your parts.
FW3 is not shown but FW2 is probably the same as youurs
Replacement parts for FFU2065FW3 models | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is the tech sheet

Unless you have a temperature problem in the unit, this is normal.

The compressor and fan are shut off when the unit does a defrost.
Defrost is 30 minutes every 12 hours.
If it does not switch back to cooling mode after the defrost cycle than odds are your electronic control (Item 166 in Section 2) is shot.

Denman,

I will check next to see how long the compressor stays off. In the event it stays off longer than 30 minutes, is there an easy way to test the electronic controller? Is this the only thing that would cause the compressor to stop? Thank you very much for your assistance.

There is not a separate test but by the sound of it the unit runs OK when it does run so the most likely cause is that the defrost board is sticking in a defrost mode.

Could be other things but the board is the most likely as the compressor runs OK and you did not mention anything about a temperature problem in the freezer.

Odds are the unit is OK.
