I have Maytag washer series 17. I ordered and recieved pump AP4373022 to fix problem with the washer not spinning all the water out during spin cycle. My question is, the old pump with assembly has a black circular plate.Which the replacement part did not come with.Do I need to transfer the circlar plate from the old pump to the new before installing? If so how? due to sealed pump housing I don't see were to access the screw in order to remove the plate.HELP ME Please!

Maytag changed the design of that pump, presumably for good reason although you never know. They should have included a notice with the part, but they did not. You do not need to remove the plate on the old one, just install the new one as is. Here is a Maytag tech bulletin on the issue. http://www.servicematters.com/m...ary/docs/ITDL-0031-B.pdf
