Given a amana fridge told it as broke I plug it in and nothing happens any suggestions.....has set up for a year buddy said the old owner thought it was the thermostat but didn't know. thanks IKE

Locate the defrost timer on the back of the refrigerator (#1541 on the diagram) and slowly turn the shaft (red) CW until it clicks. If the refrigerator will start, replace the defrost timer.

what would cause it not to cool ? coils are clean do ya think it needs a charge of freon???

Sounds like there is a new problem now?

Make sure the condenser coils are clean and the fan next to it works properly. If there is nothing wrong, then there is a problem with the sealed system. It can be low on Freon or the compressor has gone bad. It has to be tested by a pro.
