When trying to start the disposer it instantly trips the 20 amp breaker in the service panel. No humming from the motor and the flywheel is turning freely. This problem started with no warning signs or sounds:(

Sounds like the motor has gone bad. It's probably time for a new garbage disposal.

Replaced the disposer, circuit breaker still trips. Double checked wiring hookup on disposer, Could the breaker be bad? It's a cutler/hammer 20 amp.

Even if it's not that common, it's possible. You may want to call an electrician to check the outlet and breaker.
