My gas dryer isnt heating. Seldomly and only in the very beginning after loading cloths and turning on, the igniter will glow and and the flame will occur 1 time. Then after words the igniter just cycles on and off...on and off...but no flame or heat to dry cloths. The timer does move though...? Can you assist in any advise to help?

sounds like a weak igniter, the igniter should produce about 3 amps or so, if ts draws less the valve wont open to allow gas flow, could also be a valve issue, i would first try to take amp readings with a clamp on amp meter and see the amp draw on the igniter. good luck..john

No need for the amp readings here. If the glow coil comes on, the circuit is complete to the gas valve. So replace the glow coil, and you will have it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I thought I would take the front off to take a look at things. It was really dusty inside. I gave it a good vac and cleaning, pulled and re-attached the plugs on the coils and put it back together. Now it seems to be working fine. If the problem occurs again I will replace the coils. Thanks for you help.

Kill the power to the dryer, and you don't even have to shut the gas off to the dryer. Take the 2 screws oiff, that holds the bracket over the coils, and replace them one at a time, and set them down on the same position, you took them off. The bracket will only go back on snug, if the coils are in the same spot. Happy Drying. Let me know how it goes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Wow, I just ordered the coils when I posted my last reply. WOW! The coils arrived yesterday! Was that fast! I put them on about an hour ago and dried a load. The machine worked fine now and I'm drying my second load now! All seems great! Thanks for your repair advice and the super fast shipping on the parts. I used economy delivery and they still arrived in 2-days on a Saturday by FedEx. Thanks again.

good for you , im glad i was wrong, one thing i would check is if you have white vinyl venting. if you do get rid of it and replace it with either straight metal 4" pipe or flexible metal, dont use that tin foil type either, vinyl creats alot of problems for your dryer, causes blockages and manufactures dont recomend it either. may have caused your problem in the first place...good luck........john
