Is there another way to get to the check valve? I have tried every sort of way to get the wash impeller screw off but it is on tight. I am afraid of damaging the wash impeller as I try to get it off. I have a Whirlpool GU980CGQ3. The unit is 9 years old so I am not going to drop huge money into a fix since I am at the tale end of it's life. I am trying to get the normal items cleaned so that can verify that I do not have a clog somewhere that is keeping it from draining properly. There is water on the bottom after a normal load. Most times I can get it to drain by using the drain/cancel button on controls.
