I do not think you have to remove the whole door for this job. Remove the choke cover first and you should get access to the door latch. The video clip from one of previous posts can help you. - The APP part number for the door latch is AP2020315 Here are the break down diagrams for the GE microwave Model SCA2000BWW03Gene.

Hi JF1942 & Gene. I have similar problem. Will a broken Part Number AP2020315 keep the microwave from heating? The microwave was working fine a few minutes before the latch broke. My Model Number is GE, SCA1000HWW02 from Year 2005. The microwave acts exactly the way it used to except since breaking the latch, it just won't heat anything up. Thanks.

Would I have to do anything or fix anything on the Microwave itself? Like the area where the latch actually locks into? I have already ordered the part and should get it by Friday at the latest. I will update the results and hopefully everything will work and heat the contents. Thanks.

Lets do one thing at a time. Replace the door latch and post the result.
Gene.

I have the same problem but do not know how to get the old broken latch out? There is a spring thats hard to get at? Originally Posted by: kcoen I have a GE over counter microwave oven. And how easy is it to do?
