Dryer takes multiple cycles to dry clothes. If I remove the high limit thermostat, the burner stays on all the time. If I put it back in, the burner seems to cycle to much. Is this normal operation for thermostat or is it bad?

It sounds like your regular thermostat is out and your dryer is cycling on overload from the high limit thermostat. I am assuming that when you take the high limit out of circuit you are bypassing it by connecting the wires to each other?
Hope this helps.

Replaced both high limit and cycle thermostat.Still no luck. And I am shorting the wires to test. I guess I'll check the flame sensor next?
