I previously forgot to mention that the timer never shuts off unless I unplug the dryer. Once Ive emptied the dryer and close the door, I can faintly hear the timer still going. Does this go right along with what "denman" said in regard to the parts to replace it? I gather that it definately is the timer?

I would take the timer apart to verify welded contacts. Also, sometimes the cam wheel wears down and keeps the contacts closed.
