I have a Caloric Dish washer that is leaking water down the motor shaft. I have the motor out of the machine and half torn down. I need to get at the seal under the impeller but the impeller wont come off. the impeller is shaped like a nut on top, but I dont know if it unscrews or just slides up the shaft. I have tried both, but it wont move....is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is there a trick to the removal, I don't want to break it....as the unit is about 25 years old (but still works great). Thanks

To the question I asked (for future reference).....The impeller slides on the shaft with a keyway. I found this out after breaking it off. It would not slide off, or unscrew. No part available so it's now scrap.

According to the Appliance Parts Pros database the impeller and seal kit for your dishwasher is on back order but it is still available.

- The part number for the impeller and seal kit is AP146496

I would recommend to call the customer service.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Caloric dishwasher Model DUS204-19

For future reference, I use a sharp wood chisel to bust the old impeller off.

Hi Gene.....Thanks for the reply....I had the breakdown, and the part number.....but, I didn't know how long it would be on backorder. It's for a rental house so I needed to act kind of quickly on the repair or replacement. After about 25 years I figured it was about time to replace it. Thanks though for the info! Dale

Hi Richappy, Yeah, A wood chisel would have worked real good. I found out a 1/2" socket and wratchet works real good also (ha ha). Not quite what I wanted to happen ,but I didn't know if it unscrewed or if it was on a keyway. But I know now. Thanks for the responce! Dale

Hope I'm not too late here, although replacing this dishwasher is not a bad idea :)

This Caloric dishwasher was actually made by D & M (Frigidaire). While getting this impeller kit under the "Caloric" brand is pretty much impossible, it is readily available under the Frigidaire brand and we have hundreds in stock.
