IceMaker has stalagmites (icicles) from bottom of ice tray unit (originating from weep holes).
defrosted, warmed input tube, examined heating wires for calcium deposit, ... . it does produce ice, less than half normal, cubes are slightly smaller, but can produce one long (12 inches) stalagmite in 24 hours.

is it overfilling the tray? ideas on how to isolate the problem?

of course the extended warranty expired this past april.

thanks

Could be leaky ice maker, you'll need a new one then.

Thomas, don't expect any help on here. All the so called good advice tells everyone to just go buy another one. The advice you got is the same one they gave me. This is a total joke!

was the tube that feeds water to the icemaker frozen?? if so that indicates a problem with the water valve. ignore jansimply - the reason nobody wants to help him is because of his reply to someone that was volunteering their time to try and help him.

i think the best way to diagnose this problem would be to watch the icemaker closely until it calls for water.. when its filling check to see if its overfilling or just leaking out the bottom. if its overfilling the problem is likely the water valve but if its leaking from the icemaker itself and is not overfilling then you'll have to replace the icemaker.

I couldn't see anything frozen. Everything looks normal. Water flows in like it is suppose to and nothing seems to be leaking or overflowing. It seems it is making the ice, but is melting it away before it can totally fill up. Like I said, one minute it will be about 1/4 full and when I look again and hour or so later, it has melted away and then, it will make ice again and do the same. I have always tried to keep the components cleaned every six months like it tells in the manuel. I keep the cleaning solution to do this mantenance because I take care of my appliances. I keep a water filter that I flush out like it states to do before I connect it to the ice maker. Thanks for the info. I'll just keep trying different things. I appreciate any help that is given. Thanks. I bought this 3/7/04 on and also purchased a five year warranty. Although on my receipt it says the warranty expires 3/7/09, it should say 3/7/10 because it comes with a one year warranty to begin with. Regardless, appliances always seem to go out on you as soon as the warranty has expired regardless if it is one year or five additional years. Again thanks!
