Most likely the problem is a bad water inlet valve and not the ice maker.

For more accurate advise we need the complete model number of the fridge.

Hi Hilton,

Try to bypass the test points "H' & "T" to see if the motor will work.

If it wouldn't then the motor is bad and your choice is to replace the module assembly or the whole ice maker.

I would replace the whole ice maker even if it's more expensive just because it's more reliable.

- The part number for the module assembly is AP3177342

- The part number for the ice maker is AP2984633

Well finally after replacing the thermostat, adding the aluminum cement and lastly changing the motor module I have ice. It's odd that the test proceedure for the motor showed it was okay but there must have been something defective on the module.

Hi Pete,

What is the complete model number of the fridge and what is the original problem?

I have Whirlpool Model# ED5LHAXMQ10 and it has been stopping mid-cycle. I have run the optics test and diagnostics on the ice maker as described in the service manual as well as the multi-meter tests; everything checks out fine. The problem is that: during harvest, the "forks" stop just before the ice dumps and they stay there, or the harvest will complete and the water will fill up and then the "forks" disengage and get submersed in the water before it freezes... and they just stay there, getting frozen into the ice.

Any ideas on what I need to replace?

Many thanks!

I am sure that replacing the entire ice maker would solve the problem, but do you have any idea what component would be causing this behavior? I am pretty tight on cash with my new baby here and would like to see if I can correct the problem without dropping $150 on it.

Thanks for your time and interest!
