Whirlpool gold approx. 3 years old won't get cold. I had a tenant that left it after I evicted her. It was full of food for about 3 weeks without electricity. I took all the food out and hosed the inside of it down and cleaned it up. Now it won't get cold. Is there any type of reset button or could it be stuck in a defrost cycle, or is there a way for me to check the freon?
How would I go about trouble shooting it? I appreciate any and all help I could get as I'm trying to recoup some of my losses on this rental. The fan and compressor are off.
Thanks,
Don

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GS6NBEXRB01 Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.comI took all the food out and hosed the inside of it down and cleaned it up. Do not like the sound of "hosed the inside". If you mean that literally you may have blown the electronics. Now it won't get cold. Is there any type of reset button Not that I know of or could it be stuck in a defrost cycle Is a possibility, all fans and the compressor would be off. or is there a way for me to check the freon? Sort of but the compressor must be on for you to do this. If it is on, you can remove the evaporator coil cover inside the freezer and check the coils. Often if you only have frost in one area (usually where the freon enters the evaporator coils) or it is splotchy it is an indication of low freon. If the compressor is running and there is no frost on the coils you may be out of freon or the compressor is toast. If either of the above conditions exist it will be a fairly expensive repair. Note: There is no use adding freon to a system unless the leak is found and fixed. Often it makes more sense to replace the unit. How would I go about trouble shooting it? First is the compressor running? And then go from there. Here are a couple good sites with fridge repair/troubleshooting help. http://www.applianceaid.com/frig.htmlRefrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.comAnd a basic troubleshooting manual https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/635e8a1fd20bcbad852573150044a708/$FILE/R-65_4314066B.pdf |

Thanks,
Don Take the back off the refrigerator, and lay your hand on the compressor, and see if it is running. It sounds like it is not. Those models are good for the overload and relay going out, stopping the compressor from running. The overload and relay is what is mounted to the comporessor. All you have to do is pukk it off, and the wires, and replace it. Cheap fix, if it is the problem. Let me know what you find.
