Whirlpool Washer won't agitate or spin makes Grinding noise

Washer makes grinding noise when it's suppose to agitate or spin. On high spin noise is louder, on low spin not as loud. Water pumps out ok. Please help - not sure what to check first. I have the shell off now...waiting. Thank you, Lady Lee :confused:

Tilt the washer to the back and look closely to the motor, the coupling from motor to trans may be broken.
