The tub that the clothes rides in is easily and i mean easily unbalanced. Is there something we need to tighten or do we need to replace the belt?

Sounds to me more like you have a oil leak from the transmission and oil got on the snubber... you will needs to remove the front panel buy taking a putty knife and from 2 inches in from left and right corners in front push it in to release the clips..
