I have a Maytag dishwasher thats only a couple weeks old and now it won't do anything. I get power all the way up to the bi-metal and nothing beyond that. I did a continuity check and its open. I'm assuming its not resetable. I was just wondering what would have caused this and how to prevent it from becoming a reoccuring problem

I cannot find any info on this unit, it is probably too new.
Does sound like the bi-metal is shot.
I would get it repaired under warranty. It is a thermal fuse but can also blow due to current. You may have something else that is expensive to replace blowing the fuse. |

would the fact that the garbage disposal is on the same cuircuit as the dishwasher, and is junctioned in the dishwasher box its self have anything to do with this fuse blowing so soon after installation?

Yes it could if they were run at the same time.
They may have lowered the voltage which then would cause them to pull more current. |
