Washer still working, but during the spin cycle it shakes terribly, sounds horrible and smells kinda burny. Is this probably a problem with the motor coupler and is it something the homeowner can fix instead of a costly repair service?

If the coupler was broken the unit would not spin. Do you feel vibration in the floor when it is spinning?

Are all the feet touching the floor?

Thanks for your replies. I guess it's not the coupler then, cause it can still spin at this point. It shakes so bad now, it usually moves across the floor a couple inches. All feet are on the floor. The only time it sounds better is if we run an extremely small load- of say only a few items. I know it sounds like a classic imbalanced load of items, but we are very careful about that, since the noise and moving across the floor began. This washer is supposed to be capable of a super large load of clothes.

I would pull off the outer cover and check suspension springs and look for a missalighned skate board under the tub, compare the two sides.
