My 2yr old GE has sprung a leak... it trickles down the shaft from the tub ont the mode-shifter/transmission...I did some searching and managed to remove inner tub and the "split ring" so I am staring at the rubber seal that needs to be replaced...Unsure of next step...which might be obvious once I have the new part in hand...but do I just grab the rubber with pliers and pull it up/out... doe the new part just slide down shaft and is seated in the hole...what holds it in place? I have a washer that looks exactly like this: Tub, basket & agitator replacement parts for General Electric GHDSR316H0WW Washer | AppliancePartsPros.com

Hopefully the water has not damaged the lower bearing in the spin-tube. You will know by the sound of a roaring sound during spin cycle.
