The oven will not heat. The ingitor glows bright but the gas never turns "on". I replaced the bake valve but still same problem. I reinstalled the wires (red and white) back to the same location when replacing the valve.
I made a mistake when removing the bake valve, I forgot to turn the gas valve off at the wall outlet. I observed the gas spraying out and turned the valve off. Does this stove have a safety valve near the top of stove that could have shut the gas off?
I don't understand when the bake valve will open?

you should not be repairing anything that involves opening a gas component unless you have a gas fitters license .people have died doing that.restricting your self to an electrical component that does not involve opening a gas line is alright, other than that you may need a new ignitor ignitor

California does not require a "pipe fitters" license to repair stoves. In fact, I don't think that any State Gov't agency offers a "pipe fitters" license.

I absolutely agree with misterfixall - the problem is a bad igniter. - The part number for the oven igniter is AP205873 Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef range Model 31001SAWGene.
