From the above I assume that you do not hear the compressor turn on.
One way to tell if it is on is to pull the unit out and listen/feel it. If it is warm, humming and you can feel it is vibrating it is on.

If not on you could unplug the unit, short the contacts on the thermostat together, plug it in and give it a try. If the compressor comes on your thermostat is toast.

If it is on, then it is probably one or 3 things.
1. Low freon
2. A defrost problem either the timer, heater or defrost thermostat.
3. The compressor is toast.

For the first 2 remove the evaporator so you can see the evaporator coils.
If heavily iced/frosted over you have a defrost problem.
If there is only frost is one area or it is very blotchy then you are probably low on freon. This or a bad compressor is often the end of the life for a fridge as both are expensive to repair and you need a pro to fix it. Also there is no use repairing a low freon condition unless the leak can be found and sealed.
