:( The clean light flashes in intervals of 7 flashes. When I push the cancel button the number 2 will appear in the display window and the dishwasher will start and countdown and then stop. Light will still flash and when I push the button to start a cycle it just shows 2 dotted lines in the display and will not start. It is a 2 year old Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III model number GU2400.

Your model number is short a number of digits, should have something similar to XTPB4 at the end.

There are a number of different series of units under the GU2400 model.

I have the same problem with my Whirlpool dishwasher GU2400XTPS1 the light keeps flashing and when I press cancel the pump turns on and I get the number two. I was following the thread here, but there was no solution? any help would be appreciated.

Here is what we did to our dishwasher and it is working fine now.....hope this helps you as well.

With the door closed push the NORMAL button then immediately push the HEATED DRY button do this 2 - 3 times until the whole control panel lights up - then push start.

After pushing start our dishwasher showed 17 in the display window and finished the cycle. It has worked fine since then.

I read somewhere that this is sometimes caused due to the temperature of the water not being hot enough. I always try to remember to run the hot water in the sink for a few minutes before I start the dishwasher.

Here is the tech sheet for your unit, it goes over the flashing light problem and how to reset.

http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%208535451.pdf

Can be the water is too cold, heater blown, hi-limit thermostat blown, thermistor problem or the timer.
If the heater comes on during dry then the heater and the hi-limit are OK
