Replace the oven thermostat if it's open. - The part number for the oven thermostat is AP379270 Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef oven Model 9122VUV Gene.

It could be closed since you replaced the safety valve. If the igniter does not glow - check for 120V coming to the igniter while the thermostat calls for heat. Post your findings, please. Gene.

If ignitor comes on and you smell gas coming out, make sure the ignitor is line up with the gas tube because if you put it backwards is going to do just that, Ignitor will turn on you can smell gas but the flame won't go on. and make sure you got the right ignitor and amps on ignitor match your manufacture model.
