I removed the element screws and found the element connected by one wire. The other looked charred, no wire in sight. took sheetmetal guard off back, found other wire in a fried state. What do I do to troubleshoot and/or replace the problem part?

As current passes through this point heat is generated, this degrades the connection which increases the resistance which increases the heat and so on and so on till finally the connection fails.

What should I cover the open 2 seperate wire cord with ( seems dangerous) And it it possible to connect new wire to each one and pull them Thru afROM the basement with new wire attached?? Now when looking into the back of the oven one of them looks like the copper is showing and not the end that connects to the heating element but further inside of the oven. Any advice would be appreciated.
