Our GE Profile Space-maker XL1800 when run at full power shuts off in 2-4 seconds and displays power interruption. The display flicker also when it shuts off. If you start it at power level of 8 it works fine.

It is hard to say for sure but I think it is in the control board.

Mine does the same. Have you found a fix for it? I've called a service repairman and will post if/when I get new information.:)

I have never personally seen this happen but I have read post about the magnetron interfering with the control board. Try this page http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/microwave-repair/63025-why-no-answer-2-second-shut-off-issue-spacemaker.html

I have never run across the in the field but apparently a common problem.

Our microwave makes a very loud noise when running. Is this repairable?

We have a similar problem. The noise is like a growling noise. I remove the 'lazy susan' dish on the inside, and it still makes the same noise. Have you had any luck dealing with it?
