I have removed the screws holding the heating element in place at the back of the oven. How do you unattach the old element from the wires and install the new element? The breaker is turned off.

The breaker is turned off. According to the picture of the new element, the wires going to the element have female terminals on them. They should just pull off. If you can't do it with your fingers you may need to use some needle nose pliers. Make sure you pull on the female metal part, not the wire itself.

I gave up trying to get the element off the wires. I called the repairman who told me that there is a trick (not mentioned in the posts above). On the element connection there is an indent. On the wire connection there is a bump that fits into the indent to secure it. Push the button (I think it was on the bottom of the connection) to release them and then the element will pop off. He was gone in 5 minutes. I hope this tip saves somebody else a service call.
