My Maytag model #LAT9605AAE is leaking oil (yellowish oil and brown grease) from underneath. It is also making a VERY loud banging noise during the spin cycle. With the front cover removed, the motor assembly is bouncing but the banging is coming from underneath. Any ideas???? Thank you.

Itg sounds very much like your transmission has failed. The lubricating oil probably leaked out and caused the problem.

Given the age of your machine I would think a replacement would be in order.

I would remove the front panel, tilt the washer back, remove the belts and turn the tranny pulley in the spin direction to see if the problem is the tranny. If ok, I would look for busted snubber shoes, a busted tranny support spring, or a bad motor mount.
