Greetings:

Our KitchenAid KHMS155LSS3 Microwave Hood combination has developed an intermittent problem.

From time to time the microwave starts beeping constantly (two beeps at a time) and flashing SET CLOCK. In most cases the keypad becomes non-functional and there is nothing to do to stop the beeping except unplugging the unit. From time to time pressing the cancel button will clear it and allow me to set the clock and resume using the oven. After several hours of being unplugged, I plug in the unit and it works fine for a few hours. In some instances, not all, I have seen the error code F2 flashing on the display unit.

The unit is roughly 2.5 years old.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The F2 code is a keyboard failure. Since it's intermittent I would check for a loose wire/connection.

Thanks Nat. I opened the control panel and reset the ribbon cable on the circuit board. The microwave has been running for 3 days without any problems.

This seems to be a rather common issue with many KitchenAid microwaves.

With all brands actually. I think a lot of the ones that mess up were build on friday afternoons, just before quiting time!!

I have the exact same problem with this model microwave and it is less than 2 years old. How did you access the control panel? What exactly did you reset? I would like to fix this myself if possible.

We built our home less than two years ago and bought all Kitchenaid appliances and have had problems with every appliance. The double wall oven had to be totally replaced due to a faulty wiring harness. The dishwasher was just repaired last week after waiting three weeks for a part. What is wrong with the quality control at the factory????

50 minutes ago, I openned the control panel on my KHMS155LSS4 and re-inserted the cable ribbon from the control pad to the control broad. The ribbon seemed lose. Not the best connector for a machine that vivrates. Has a flip over lever that pinchs the ribbon agaisnt the contacts. No error codes since. These things have residual power in them so I had the micro unplugged for 24 hrs before I opened the control panel up and when I did I had a Greenline GT-11 Voltage Detector. If your not comfortable around electricity best get help.

I have a very similar if not the same issue with this model. How can I take the panel off and fix it myself? This has been going on for 2 yrs now and the unit is maybe 2.5 yrs old.

Thank you for your help.

The beeping is intolerable. I was searching the net to replace the model and fortunately discovered this site and realized it is a faulty assembly error in this particular unit. Unfortunately, the warranty is expired. I too, would like to know the step by step procedures in opening the panel and fixing the loose wire. It doesn't sound difficult, just need to know the steps. Thanks.

I am having a similar issue with my Kitchen Aid microwave. The control panel display is randomly displaying inches as if I were pushing the pizza button and then it will turn on. Has anyone had the same issue, I am wondering if I should replace the membrane switch.
