Our Kitchenaid over-stove microwave and fan unit was installed two years ago. Tonight, at around 11:45 pm (it figures!), it began beeping randomly and insistently. The screen read "F2." Keypad unresponsive except suddenly the FAN kicked in and I couldn't get it off for 20 minutes. Finally tried one more time and turned off fan. (whew)

But I am hesitant to leave the microwave tomorrow when I have to be at work all day -- never mind overnight when I'm sleeping. I'm probably going to turn off the circuit breaker for the microwave but that will probably affect other things in our kitchen. OY.

I don't trust myself to open a panel and fiddle around with wires. I'm truly sad and mad to hear that this is a commong Kitchenaid microwave problem. Anything I can do to stay safe now that I'm going to bed (much later than planned!), and off to work early tomorrow?

Thanks.

POOR QUALITY

CALLED/EMAILED CEO IN BENTON HARBOR, MI

WHEN I GOT A CALL BACK I WAS TOLD CIRCUIT BOARD WAS covered by a longer warranty. they sent me a replacement circuit board, etc.

should have asked them to cover a professional installation.

i think it's because steam from right side burners goes into the circuit board - moisture perhaps makes poor contact.

also - DO NOT SET THE CLOCK. i found that not setting permits the thing to run many months before having to unplug overnight.

made in china and they have the you-know-whats to say made in PRC rather than China. two letters difference - for deceiving consumers.

I found myself at 5 am wondering why my microwave was on and no food in it.
The control panel was non-responsive, I can't remember if error code or not but I ended up unplugging it. Scary!
I just plugged it back in a day and a half later and it is working but I am afraid that the thing will turn back on by itself and end up causing a fire.

Any suggestions, I read that someone contacted the CEO and found the control panel has a longer warranty...any more details on this?

Thanks
