Im selling a stove that came out of my folks place. It was originally wired for a 4 wire setup but the cord was removed to be used in their new one. The copper grounding strap was removed as required in a 4 wire setup (so ive read). My question is, what would happen if someone were to attach a 3 wire cord to it without replacing the copper grounding strap?
Thanks

The big issue is one of safety. If for some reason a live wire touches the frame the unit is now live. Touch the unit and lets say a faucet (as often these are grounded through the copper plumbing) and you will get a nasty shock. Or in the case of a child, older person or some one who has heart problems and you could end up DEAD!!!!
If you sell it with a cord attached and it is wired incorrectly, you are liable which could cost you everything you own. |
