Hi - The washing machine makes a grinding noise on the wash cycle. All other cycles run without any abnormal noise. Can this be attributed to a faulty transmission? Is there any way to verify this? Is there any other diagnostics you would recommend? Thanks for your help.

Hi
It is very difficult for us to diagnose noises because we are not there to listen. Since it is in the agitate cycle it is like a problem in the transmission.
I would take out the agitator to see if something is stuck there. Remove the top pieces and the screw which holds it down and it lifts up.
