I have a JennAir stove with a faulty touch pad. The 3,6,9 buttons no longer work. I found a part on line known as the panel overlay. Is the problem likely to be corrected if I replace the panel overlay?....or do I need to replace the "clock" that contains all the circuit connections? I already tried removing/putting back the ribbon cable from the "ribbon connector" with no results. PART # 74008652, BLACK (The part I believe I need unless someone tells me otherwise.)

Most likely the problem is a bad clock overlay (aka a control panel or a touch pad), but there is a small chance for the clock to be bad as well. Here are the breakdown diagrams and replacement parts for the Jenn Air range Model JGR8775QDB

This is a common problem. Mine has "burned up" twice in less than a year, and the oven less than 2 years old. If you look at the ribbon cable, I bet you will see a burn mark and part of the metal worn away. Whirlpool/Jenn-air recommend insulating the ribbon cable. But of course you need a new touch pad first....if you can find one that is not back ordered for a month or two. At least the parts come with a five year warrenty, and I was lucky in that Jenn-air is covering the service call even though it is past the one year service warranty - they obvious know that this is a design defect!
Good luck

I did order the part and put it in myself. Hopefully, it will last longer than yours did. My ribbon cable did not appear damaged. I may try insulating it before it melts again. I'm glad I made it through Thanksgiving! Originally Posted by: Northindy This is a common problem. Mine has "burned up" twice in less than a year, and the oven less than 2 years old.
