There are two fans. The one you need to check is located in the freezer compartment. You can check to see if it is running by openint the freezer and listening for it. If you don't hear it running (it does not run while unit is in defrost mode), you'll need to find out why and correct it accordingly. If you do hear it running, there may be a malfunctioning or blocked damper (that's the port where cold air is channeled into your refrigerator section.

the problem now is I got to keep smacking it to get it to work and thats not good??the fan will kick on after I hit it, but when it cools inside and go off, when the compressor kick back on to cool again the air wont blow out into fridge once more intill I smack it, then the fan will start up and blow again..so do I need to replace it are do you think it might have a short in it

You may have a loose connection at the fan. You'll need to remove the panel at the rear inside your freezer to access the evaporator fan.
