The first thing I would do is unplug the key pad ribbon from the control board, clean it with an eraser and plug it back. If it would not help, then the key pad has to be replaced. - The part number for the key pad is AP324755 Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag microwave Model MMV5000BDQGene.

How would I eliminate the keypad as being the problem without ordering a keypad as many places have non-refundable electronic items policy?
Couldn't control board be the problem also?

Keypad ribbon was erased with pencil eraser- NO HELP
Problem is either keypad or control board-
This microwave costs $275 and keypad costs $59.99 and Control Board is $206- 50/50 chance of either-
Trouble is that most electronic parts are NON-returnable so if keypad is okay then I am into $260 for replacement parts-
Since average life is 7 years and mine is 6.3 years- I am close to junking the microwave-
This is the American Way NOW as cheaper to replace than to fix as new unit come with warranty-
Thanks for your help-

Though this is an old post, I have the same problem with my Maytag of the same model. I'd like to take the keypad off and clean or replace it. I'm usually pretty good and disassembling appliances and making minor repairs. I've studied the diagrams but I have no idea where to start. Can the keypad get removed from the front or do I have to lower unit from over the stove and remove the case and etc. That would be painful for something that's staring me right in the face!
I appreciate any help in this.
Charlie
