i just replaced the thermal fuse because when i bypassed it the dryer started working.i noticed the heating element glowed cherry red and it did not do that when i had the problem.i think it heated, but not as hot as it is now.one concern is ...i see the heating element does not get red all the way around..only about two thirds around.does that mean the element is broken and should be replaced?

It's hard to say without seeing the heating element. You have to pull it out and inspect the coils.

You probably can access it by removing the toe panel.
