Seven year old Frigidaire side by side will not cool. Approx. 2 weeks ago, it went stopped working & we had the relay replaced. The frig worked again for one week, and then stopped (the night it stopped we had a series of low power flashes, about every 5 minutes for maybe 3 hours). I was told it needed a new cold control & defrost timer unit so I replaced this part today, but still no go. The fan is on in the freezer section, interior lights work, but the compressor & compressor fan are not working. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks!

You probably have a blown adaptive defrost pc board behind the control panel. AP3214257. If bad, would be a good idea to put a 1000 joule surge protector on the fridg outlet, just make sure it's one for refrigerators.

Thanks richappy. I believe I replaced the part you refer to. In the schematic, it was described as: "control -defrost, adaptive Timer, pc board". It's listed as part# 240545403 on the Frigidaire website, but I was provided with an updated part # 240554502. It is described on my bill simply as a "defrost timer". Did I replace the wrong part? I cannot locate the number you provided (AP3214257). Also, I notice now that there is a bit of insulation near the compressor that has been shredded or melted. Have never noted compressor to be hot however. Thanks again for your advice.

That's the right part, an updated one that hopefully will be more reliable.
