It usually is a faulty defrost thermostat or defrost timer which are fairly easy to replace, or the defrost heater. Thaw the evaporator with a hairdryer or just pour some hot water on it and make sure the fan is not blocked by ice or there will be no airflow to the refrigerator. Have a mop handy.
