bake element arced and melted. I replaced with new element, but the element will not heat. If the control nob is manipulated up/down or left/right rather than around, the element can be caused to turn on. The thermostat seems to still work, because I can heat the oven with broil element and it will reach desired temperature very slowly and then turn off. This particular version of the Amana arr6300ww serial #9610194218 has a separate thermostat and auxiliary switch next to each other. What do I replace? The thermostat? The auxiliary switch? or both?

Quote:Amana arr6300ww serial #9610194218 We would also need the appliance's manufacturing (MF G) number to properly identify the appliance in question. It starts with the letter P... Quote:yes, it is the thermostat knob that was moved [to get the bake element to come on]. Than my guess is the contact in the thermostat for the bake element is malfunctioning, likely needing the thermostat to be replaced to correct the condition... whether it is controlling the broil element at the right temperature or not. Unfortunately it looks like the thermostat (part # Y0316885 or R0161098) for your model has been discontinued and is no longer available. I don't know if you'd be able to locate anyone with old stock of it still kicking around. One possibility might be the following link: LINK > Amana R0161098 Thermostat - old stockJMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~
