Hi, My maytag washer makes a grinding noise when it first starts in wash cycle, goes away and starts again in the spin cycle. thank You

Tilt it back far enough to give you access to rhe bottom. Remove the drive belt. Spin the pump pulley (the smaller one to te right of the large center transmission pulley) in either direction by hand. If you hear a grinding noise in either direction, or both, replace the pump. It'll be one of these two. Part number: AP4373022
