I am replacing the transmission brake assembly on this GE Profile washer. I have the tub/drive assembly removed from the machine, but cannot remove the agitator to allow me to remove the spin basket from the tub.

Any suggestions? When I remove the cap from the fabric softener there is a semi-transparent cap below it that I cannot seem to move and am trying to avoid breaking.

You don't need to remove that cover, The agitator just pulls off, (no bolts) The special tub wrench is what your gonna need, It fits the BIG NUT under the white plastic agitator drive block.

Good luck with that tub nut, you may want to post this removal as a separate problem if you have trouble, I believe it is a left hand thread.
