Ice maker still not making ice inside freezer the red light blinks twice even if I switch the ice maker off. Could this just mean that I have to rplace the water filter? Please let me know don't leave me out in the cold.

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

How did you check the "red light"?

Check the optics as described in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...makes-little-no-ice.html

The part numbers listed there are good for your refrigerator as well.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GD5SHAXNB00 REFRIGERATOR | AppliancePartsPros.com

Gene, if I ordered this optics board for my ice maker is that something I could install my self or would I have to call somebody like Sears to install it?
