My ice maker has stopped making ice. Are there some steps to take that will lead me to the problem?

The ice maker and fill valves and tubes And the infra red sensor system in side the liner of the freezer. Check and make sure the water tube to the ice maker is not frozen, and check the solenoid resistance for 500 to 1000 ohms. De ice the fill tube or replace the valve as needed. To test the sensor system : make sure the switch on the right control panel is on. Close the freezer door for 1 minute then open, the red light should be on solid/steady. If the light pulses or no light at all, close the freezer door and wait 1 minute. Open the freezer door, and press the flapper panel on the left side of the wall, if the light pulses or no light at all replace the emitter/reciever kit. Part number: AP3137510 If tube and valve check ok, if sensor system checks ok, replace ice maker assembly. Part number: AP3182733

Joe,
I removed the ice maker assembly to remove excess ice thinking the build up may cause the unit from working. Prior to doing so the sensor light was blinking after opening the freezer door. Now, after re-instralling the assembly, the light is just off after I open the door. If the wire harness came loose when I took the assembly out would it prevent the sensor from working? tmoceri |

The light should be on "solid" when you open the door. Also check for a sticky door switch.
