Hey guys, I got a Kenmore washing machine in yesterday that doesn't spin. I replaced the coupler, but still nothing. The motor turns fine, I can see it spin the coupler. The coupler also spins the driveshaft, so I'm thinking maybe it's a broken clutch. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Is the clutch hub on top of the gearcase spinning? If not, then the gearcase is faulty. If it is, look up into brake hub. Is the basket drive spinning (brakes, brake spring)? If clutch hub is spinning but basket drive is not, then pull the gearcase and check the clutch band and brake cam driver at bottom of basket drive. It should be difficult to rotate the clutch band within the clutch hub.

My Kenmore 80 series washer was also making noise, but not spinning. I watched your YouTube video on repairs and found out that the coupler was broken. I also replace the coupler and now it doesn't do anything, no noise even. I did notice a stray white wire around the electrical connection area, which I am thinking I accidentally did when removing the motor. I could not for the life of me, figure out where it goes. There was one spot I thought it would go, but It did not fit into any space where the other wires were as it had a black square end on it. As a young widow, I was so proud that I did all of the hard stuff myself, but was disappointed that it didn't work in the end and I think it's that stupid white wire, which probably is a simple fix. Where in the world does this go? HELP...we are running out of clean clothes

It connects to the motor thermal overload. See photo. Disregard the red circle. Your wire connects to the terminal on the device that this white wire connects to.

Thank you so much...You are an angel! The only thing I didn't do is "reattach" the locking clips because they stayed in place when I removed the shell. Those are really hard to get back on, so I will hopefully get them back into place when my poor muscles recover from this...the washer still works with out them though. I knew it was something stupid and simple...thanks again!

I guess I spoke too soon and was overly confident in my repair, when I didn't watch the first load after my repair. I now have a clean garage floor. What did I do wrong that the machine did not stop filling? ... was it something to do with that locking clip?

The back side of the water level control inside the control panel is the water level pressure switch. Check to see if you accidently pulled the plastic hose off of it. This hose runs from the switch down to an air chamber on the lower back right side of the outer tub. As the water level rises, it creates air pressure in the hose and operates the switch to stop filling and start agitation. Either the hose came loose from the switch, the tub fitting or it got crimped or cut somewhere along its run.
