I have been searching threads, but can't find exactly what i need.
Bottom oven works fine.
I set top oven temp to anything 300, 350, 400, 500. It never gets there. I get a different actual reading every time i try it... 75, 240, etc but never getting to the set temp. I put a cold ( that i put in the freezer for an hour) wash cloth on the temp sensor made no diff, even an ice cube made no diff. I can hear the control click the oven on.

How do I test the temp sensor?
I have a multi meter. I need step by step instructions. If you can tell me what the multi meter dials should be set at and what reading i should get that would be great.

If sensor is not bad then what do i test next?

Thank you sooooo much....I love this forum!!!

more info:
upper broiler element works fine.
If i turn broiler on HI and let it go for 5 min then switch oven off broil and set oven then it will digitally read out correct temp on display (started at 375 then slowly went down), but if i set oven to 500 it will not increase in temp.

So i think maybe temp sensor ok....maybe bad heating element?

I cannot find any info on the given model number. Please check it.
Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a good site. Check out 7, 8, 20 and 21.

Check the bake element, should be around 20 ohms.

Be sure to remove power from the unit when doing the above.

When the unit acts up does the oven shoe that it is ready or does it stay in preheat?
If it stays in preheat then odds are that the oven sensor is OK re: it is calling for heat but for some reason is not delivering it.

Some units have a thermal cutout in the circuit to an element but I need a model number to check if your unit has this.
