I have a GE WVSR1060A1WW top load washer that is probably 10years old and the spin cycle stopped working. The agitate cycle works but whenit goes to the spin cycle, the water drains and then nothing. I have checked thelid switch and it is working. I removed the front cover and saw that when thespin cycle engages, the motor jerks but nothing else. I removed the belt andthe motor seems to function fine in the spin cycle with no stress on it. I handturned the agitator shaft in both directions and it moves but not freely. Anysuggestions as to what my next move should be? Thanks.

You say "the motor jerks but nothing else", is the motor spinning? i.e. is the clip on the bottom of the motor shaft below the pulley spinning? or does the motor just stop? If stopped, is it humming? With the belt removed, the motor spins fine in spin? With belt on, you should be able to rotate the motor pulley easily in each direction however, in the spin direction (CW looking from below) it will be a little more difficult as the entire transmission and basket will rotate.
