I have a Maytag glass top cooking range and planning to replace one of the burned heating coils.

Model number CRE9800BCB

Can anyone advise me on how to open/remove this glass top unit to replace the coil? There is no screws or any such devices seen externally.......

Hi,

Most free standing ranges with glass tops you open the oven door and remove the two screws under the front edge of the glass top.

After the screws are removed the tops either slides forward a bit and lifts off or are hinged in back so you just lift the front edge of the glass top up.

Make sure you unplug it first and you will have wires to disconnect.

Hope that helps.

I see the two screw/bolts.
What concerns me is the diagram for burner replacement on AppliancePartsPros.com that shows long bolts with springs and such on them.
I will undo the two bolts/screws and see what happens.
Thanks,
Bob

I have three screws. One that seems to hold the Range clean lock in place.
Remove all three?
Thanks,
Bob

Removed three screws. top lifted up nicely and out.
Replaced burner and limiter.
Not the problem. Still no burner .
Next action is to look at replacing the burner control, if I can find out how to get into the panel.
Whew....
